TOP 10 HEALTHY SKIN HABITS



1.     DO NOT SMOKE
Smoking literally affects the structure of the skin through the bloodstream. It deposits various toxins like mercury, tar, nicotine, lead, carbon monoxide, even formaldehyde.  Smoking also generates free radicals in your system.  It also can produce estrogen in women that can cause wrinkles, dryness, sagging, and cracking skin.


2.     PROTECT YOUR SKIN FROM THE SUN. 
UVA rays are the long rays that penetrate deep into the dermis, causing damage over time. They destroy collagen and elastin that eventually causes sagging and wrinkles. They also can cause liver spots on the face, chest, and hands. This kind of radiation is everywhere at all times under all circumstances, even while is rains.  They can penetrate glass, clothing, and plastic. Find a sunscreen that blocks the UVA light and contains ingredients like zinc oxide, avobenzone, and mexoryl.


3.     DO NOT STRESS
It seems in today's world there is a flux of internal and external stress. When we respond to stress it actually redirects the oxygen, blood, and nutrients to other vital organs like the legs and away from our skin. The indications will be noticed as dark circles under the eye, a sallow appearance, more visible wrinkles and lines, also flushed cheeks. It can also trigger other skin conditions like acne, rosacea, and hives. Stress can also affect the risk of infection.


4.     EXCERCISE ON A REGULAR BASIS
Consistent exercise has been shown to reduce stress. It increases circulation which guarantees vital nutrients are delivered to skin cells. it is recommended that a minimum of 60 minutes per day for at lease four days a week. It is best to combine aerobic, weight training, and stretching exercises into your program. 

5.     DRINK ALCOHOL IN MODERATION
Alcohol disrupts your sleep cycle, destroys your body's supply of vitamen A, dehydrates  your skin, weakens the skin's ability to  to fight off damage caused by free radicals.and causes broken capillaries which can permanently leave you with a flushed appearance, and it can cause rosacea. Alcohol and also damage the lining and your stomach and small intestine.

6.     EAT HEALTHY
Certain foods like meats, fish, vegetables, and fresh friuts actually slow the ageing process. Look at it this way, your skin is a reflection of what is going on inside your body.  Eating fresh organic food versus processed food is better for your health and skin.  Make sure you get enough fatty acids like omega 3 and omega 6 as they boost  the skin's barrier and keeps moisture in and irritants out.  Eat foods rich in vitamin A and vitamin E for their antioxidant benefits. Do not eat foods with processed sugar or white flour. Be careful of fad diets particularly if it teaches starvation.

7.     DO NOT PICK PIMPLES
Popping pimples can force bacteria deeper into the skin, causing even more inflammation, as well as staph infections that can leave scare on your face. The best way to treat your skin is by using products that heal the blemish, like sulfur or benzoyl peroxide.

8.     GET PLENTY OF SLEEP
Sleep deficit take a toll on you physically and can cause health problems. The National Sleep Foundation found that 40% of adults get less than 7 hours of sleep each night. Your skin actually repairs the cells during sleep and if you do not get enough rest you will end up with dark circles under your eyes and your complexion looks dull.  It is also important that you sleep on your back as you will get sleep creases which are facial lines that appear in the morning and can deepen and persist over time. If you sleep facedown on a pillow or on one side, the weight of your body will causes the creases.Also, make sure your head is propped up above your heart to help alleviate under eye bags..

9.     FIND THE RIGHT SKINCARE PRODUCT AND ROUTINE
Choose products that contain specific active ingredients that address your skin issues. Are they clinical skin care products or over the counter products.  Stay on a routine as it take time to see results particularly if your skin has been neglected.

10.   APPLY SUNSCREEN DAILY
Use a broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 15 or higher and boot star rating of 3 or more and apply it to all exposed areas, including hands and feet and apply everyday even if you are not going out in direct sunlight
